A Tatami mattress is based on a traditional Japanese Tatami mat made of rice straw. The tatami mattress is filled with tightly compressed rice straw. The edges of the Tatami mattress are sewn with black cotton. The tatami mattress is 5.5 cm thick.

This mattress is perfect if you are building a square futon floor combined with 4 180x90cm and the mattress 90 x 90cm.

A Tatami mattress is intended as a base for, for example, a futon mattress, which in Japan is traditionally laid directly on the Tatami mat. A Tatami mattress is very hard and is only suitable to lie on directly for those who want to sleep on a very firm bed.
